    Bengals rookie season struggles continue

    -

The disappointing debut season for Cincinnati Bengals rookie Shemar Stewart continues going into Week 11 with his status in doubt for the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Stewart officially classifies as “week-to-week” with a knee injury, according to Bengals head coach Zac Taylor.

Back in Week before the bye, Stewart suffered the knee injury, a development at the time that didn’t get much in the way of attention for a 3-6 team with much bigger concerns during a bye week.

So far, Stewart has logged just five games as a rookie. That was after missing an important chunk of time during the summer and preseason due to the contract standoff with the team.

As a result, Stewart has even been described as in the “infant stage” of development within the program by defensive coordinator Al Golden.

While this far from spoils Stewart’s long-term prospects as a pro, he needs the developmental reps and the Bengals could certainly use an uptick in pass-rushing production on the edges.
