On Monday, Bayern Munich announced that it would be parting ways with Raphaël Guerreiro this summer, but the veteran is already reportedly drawing interest:
Raphael Guerreiro is on the lookout for a new club this summer after it was announced that he will leave Bayern Munich as a free agent when his contract expires.
According to the Portuguese newspaper Record, Benfica have expressed interest in signing the 32-year-old on a free transfer.
Guerreiro is reportedly open to joining the José Mourinho-led club. Despite being a 65-cap Portuguese international, he has never played in his home country.
Guerreiro still has something to offer a team, but it cannot be at full-back, where his mobility and straight-line speed have both declined in recent seasons. As a midfielder, though, Guerreiro is still crafty enough to make an impact on a good team. Benfica seems like it could be a great fit for the former Borussia Dortmund star.

Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton is quickly becoming a sought after player and Manchester United would reportedly like to give him a new home:
Adam Wharton expects to leave Crystal Palace this summer amid interest from Manchester United, according to The Sun. The 22-year-old midfielder feels he is ready to make the next step in his career and wants to join a club playing in the Champions League. The Red Devils have also tracked Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali, Brighton & Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba and AFC Bournemouth’s Alex Scott. In another report from The Sun, it is suggested that Brighton are softening their stance regarding Baleba after demanding £100 million for the 22-year-old’s transfer last summer.
Bayern Munich supervisory board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge can see the financial trends in football and observe that agent fees are creating absolute chaos.
“We’re all in the same boat, so we should sit down together – agents, federations, leagues, and clubs. We’ve completely lost our bearings. Last summer, €1.17 billion was paid in agent fees. Five years ago it was 500 million, already a lot. When Bayern buys from Freiburg, Freiburg buys from Mainz, and Mainz buys from elsewhere, the money stays in football. What agents take does not – and it’s harming the sport,” Rummenigge stated.

There is no easy solution for this problem. Generally, players are not lawyers and need agents. That said, both players and clubs seem to be paying a whole hell of a lot of money for the representation. At some point, the finances of this arrangement do start to crumble.
There are a lot of rumors linking FC Barcelona to multiple players — including Manchester City star Bernardo Silva, who might want to make the move to Catalonia:
Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva is doing everything possible to join Barcelona when his contract expires in the summer, as reported by Sport. Barcelona have previously tried to sign the Portugal international during various transfer windows, but they now have doubts about the 31-year-old’s age and whether they need someone in the positions he operates best in. Barcelona sporting director Deco has asked for more time to make his decision, while Silva and his agent Jorge Mendes have indicated that they will be patient.
ESPN added another report on the topic as well:
Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva is prioritizing a move to Barcelona having decided to end his time at the Etihad Stadium when his contract expires this summer, reports Diario Sport. Barça see signing the 31-year-old as an interesting deal but he isn’t a priority for them due to an abundance of players in the position. The Portugal international is also considering other options, as he has large offers from the Saudi Pro League. Juventus have also made an offer, and Benfica dream of bringing him back to the club.
Does FC Barcelona even need him?
Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund has one-year left on his contract and the team’s executive board will make a decision on whether or not he comes back:
Christoph Freund’s contract also expires in 2027. His future is not decided by the supervisory board, but by the executive board (Dreesen, Eberl & Rouven Kasper). Freund has extremely good prospects of a new contract. His work with the first team and the Campus, where he has been given more responsibility, is highly valued at the club.
Freund has done a fine job with helping get the academy back into “talent production mode” and has served as a composed voice of reason in a sometimes chaotic organizational structure. While his 2024 winter transfer window signing of Sacha Boey and Bryan Zaragoza will be lampooned, he has been very good otherwise in his assigned role. Max Eberl, of course, took over personnel decisions after that winter transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur could be eyeing former Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Adi Hütter:
The Daily Telegraph reports that Tottenham are considering former AS Monaco manager Adi Hütter should they sack interim boss Igor Tudor, as their relegation hopes took another major blow with defeat to Nottingham Forest on Sunday. Tudor did not attend the post-match news conference due to a family bereavement. Spurs have time to decide with their next match not until April 12, due to the international break. Hütter lasted just 18 months at Monaco, who he guided to second in his only full season in charge. He has also had spells at Borussia Mönchengladbach, Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Salzburg, among others.
