Barcelona are planning important moves for the future, and strengthening the defence appears to be one of the club’s top priorities.
As such, according to a report from Fichajes, Barcelona are currently treating the signing of Croatian centre-back Luka Vuskovic as a priority target.

The young defender has impressed scouts across Europe with his physical presence, maturity on the ball, and ability to dominate aerial situations despite his age.
Within the club’s sporting management, there is a growing belief that Vuskovic could be the perfect addition to rejuvenate the defensive line.
Barcelona are impressed
Initially, Barcelona were believed to be looking for a left-footed centre-back profile to balance the back line.
However, the quality and potential shown by the Croatian talent have reportedly convinced the club to make an exception.
Financially, the deal is also considered manageable. As reported before, negotiations for the defender could be completed for a fee of around €40 million.

Considering his age, potential, and growing reputation in European football, Barcelona see this figure as a competitive price.
Everything in right place
Another factor that could help Barcelona complete the move is the situation surrounding Tottenham Hotspur.
The report indicates that uncertainty around the Premier League club’s situation, including their current struggles in the Premier League and the possibility of relegation, could make negotiations easier for the Catalan side.
Barcelona are therefore hoping to take advantage of this moment and move quickly.
Interestingly, Hansi Flick is said to be the main driving force behind the move, as he is keen to bring in a defender who can quickly adapt to the first-team environment while still offering long-term development potential.

The idea is not necessarily for Vuskovic to arrive as an undisputed starter immediately. Instead, he would be integrated into the defensive rotation and gradually establish himself alongside some of Barcelona’s current centre-backs.
Talks with the player’s representatives are said to be progressing in a positive direction, meaning we could be in for an interesting transfer race.
