AKRON — The 14th seeded University of Akron men’s soccer team will host No. 15 Duke in the third round of the NCAA tournament today. Kickoff time is 4 p.m.
The Zips and Blue Devils are seeking a spot in the tournament’s elite eight.

How Akron reached the third round of the NCAA tournament
Akron (12-4-3) earned a first-round bye and beat Notre Dame 1-0 at home in the second round.
Matthew Paiva scored the game winner in the 88th minute. Stefan Dobrijevic delivered a strike that knocked off a Notre Dame defender and was redirected into the back of the net by Paiva.
Paiva’s goal sent the Zips to the third round for the first time since 2018.
How Duke reached the third round of the NCAA tournament
Duke (10-3-6) opened the tournament with a 1-0 win over Fairleigh Dickinson. The Blue Devils upset No. 3 Princeton 2-1 to reach the third round.

Kenan Hot and Leonardo D’Ambrosio scored goals in the final 19 minutes to rally Duke past Princeton.

Akron vs. Duke men’s soccer all-time series
The Zips and Blue Devils are meeting for the fourth time. Duke won the previous three meetings.
The biggest game was the 1986 national championship game at Tacoma, Wash. won by Duke 1-0. The Blue Devils also beat the Zips 1-0 in the last matchup in 1996.
Who will the Akron-Duke winner face?
The Akron-Duke winner will play the winner of the third round game between No. 11 Bryant and Saint Louis in the Elite Eight. The Zips will host the game if they beat Duke and Saint Louis defeats Bryant.
