It was a bit sloppy Wednesday but everyone was still hopeful of good weather at the 2025 CJ Cup Byron Nelson. But Mother Nature had other ideas Friday.
At 9:46 a.m. local time (10:46 a.m. ET), play was suspended early in the second round at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas.
Subsequent updates kept the delay in effect, as they were not only dark clouds overhead but lightning.
Finally, at 3:12 p.m. local time, PGA Tour officials announced the second round was resume at 4 p.m. (5 p.m. ET) with 78 golfers still to start their second rounds. That’s exactly half the field of 156. At 3:24 p.m. local time, as crews were seen squeegeeing water from the fairwqays, the practice areas were re-opened. At 4:01 p.m. local, after a delay of 6 hours, 15 minutes, play officially resumed.

When will they make the cut at the 2025 CJ Cup Byron Nelson?
Of course, normally the PGA Tour’s 36-hole cut comes Friday evenings. That’s not going to happen this week, which means the second round will be completed Saturday, then split tees will likely be used for the third round with hopes of getting back on schedule to complete the final round Sunday.
