NORMAN — Aaliyah Chavez ran the floor.
With three seconds remaining in the first half of the OU women’s basketball season opener Monday, Sahara Williams found the talented true freshman crossing half court. Chavez took one dribble and let a deep 3 fly.
Money.
Chavez — the No. 1 overall recruit in the country — dropped 16 points and dished five assists in her collegiate debut, an 84-67 win against Belmont. She shot 5 for 18 from the field and 1 for 8 from 3-point range.
Raegan Beers, Chavez and the Sooners will be tested next week as they travel to face No. 3 UCLA in a neutral-site contest on Monday, Nov. 10 at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento on FS1.
