2025 Masters week forecast looks promising for rain at Augusta

After weather threatened to prevent fans from attending Monday’s practice round at Augusta National, gates were opened and Masters week began as normal. That doesn’t mean the rest of the week will go off without a hitch though. Mother nature is a fickle mistress, offering rainy conditions at the drop of a hat, and there isn’t anything worse than trying to play golf in the rain.

With play beginning on Thursday, April 10, and the Par 3 Contest beginning a day earlier, the 2025 Masters could face struggles with rain possibly delaying play on Friday for Round 2. Here’s the full breakdown of the forecast for the tournament, based on data from the Weather Channel and AccuWeather.

    Forecast for the 2025 Masters:

    Wednesday, April 9:

The Masters Par 3 Tournament is due for a very nice day, with temperatures below 50 degrees to begin the day, but warming up nicely to 66 by the afternoon. Very few clouds are expected and winds shouldn’t be more than nine miles per hour with gusts of up to 16 mph.

    Thursday, April 10:

Although rains were expected throughout the Masters a few weeks ago, fortunes have changed and now, a sunny, mostly clear weekend seems to be in the cards.

Thursday will bring a very similar forecast to Wednesday, with temperatures starting near or even under 50 before warming up to the high-60s, low-70s around the afternoon. Winds aren’t expected to be much of a factor either with speeds ranging between 6 and 8 mph with gusts anywhere between 14 and 18 mph.

    Friday, April 11:

Friday was the most likely day for rain earlier in the week. On Sunday, there was a 50% chance of rain as early as 9 a.m. However, it seems the chances have dropped off significantly, with AccuWeather reporting only a 20-40% chance of rain now.

That is still the highest chance for rain throughout the weekend, but temperatures will be higher as well. They should never dip below 50, and should remain in the low-to-mid-60s throughout the day.

    Saturday, April 12:

Saturday will be an interesting day weather-wise. Temperatures are expected to be below 55, but humidity will be at its highest for the weekend. By 4 p.m. local time, though, temperatures will rise to about 67 with humidity falling to 35%, hopefully bringing a more normal feel to golfers and fans alike. Along with partly cloudy skies, winds shouldn’t be much of an issue with gusts only reaching about 14 mph while holding at a calm 7-9 mph breeze.

    Sunday, April 13:

The final day of the Masters might be the most beautiful with sunny skies and very few clouds expected. While temperatures will feel frigid, sub-50 before 10 a.m., it should warm up slightly by the afternoon, reaching a high of 69 around 4 p.m.

Winds will also be their lightest of the weekend, sitting at 6-7 mph for most of the day with gusts topping out around 13 mph.

When was the last time rain delayed the Masters?

Although rain is no longer expected for the Masters, there is still a chance we see delays on Friday for Round 2. This wouldn’t be the first time rain affected the beloved tournament. Just last year, the start of the tournament was delayed 2.5 hours due to inclement weather, pushing the beginning tee times from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

In fact, rain has played a factor almost every year for the Masters since 2019, which is to be expected in early April in Georgia. Thankfully, the tournament has never been canceled due to weather.
