British supermarket chain Waitrose has introduced a two-bar purchase limit on the increasingly popular Dubai-style chocolate bars, following overwhelming demand from customers.
The new rule was implemented after the indulgent chocolate, made with milk chocolate, 45% pistachio, and crunchy Kadayif pastry, caused a stir in the UK market.
First launched in December 2024, the Lindt chocolate bar has quickly become a favourite following its viral popularity on social media, with fans praising its taste and texture.
The chocolate’s success is partly attributed to influencer campaigns on platforms like TikTok, where videos showcasing the product garnered significant attention, leading to skyrocketing sales.
Waitrose, which added the chocolate bar to its shelves on March 23, said the decision to limit purchases was made to ensure as many customers as possible could enjoy the treat.
“No more than two bars per person please… because we want everyone to have the chance to enjoy this delicious chocolate,” read a sign posted at the store.

The retailer added that stock levels of the £10 chocolate bars are expected to be replenished on March 31, but advised customers to act quickly as the bars were flying off the shelves.
Lindt, the Swiss chocolate brand behind the product, also confirmed that they had been replenishing stock in stores across the UK, including in Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, and Ocado, following the initial sell-out success of the product.
In addition to the two-bar limit, the brand has expanded its offerings with a new Dubai-style chocolate praline box and a smaller 40-gram bar exclusively available in London’s newly opened Lindt Piccadilly store.
The Dubai-style chocolate trend follows a broader shift in the UK’s growing appetite for indulgent, innovative flavours. The combination of pistachio and Kadayif pastry, a traditional Middle Eastern treat, has resonated with chocolate lovers, particularly those seeking new and exciting varieties.
With Waitrose’s purchase limits, it remains clear that the Dubai-style chocolate craze is unlikely to die down soon.
