Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in New Delhi late on Thursday, December 4, for a two-day visit. The spotlight has fallen on the ITC Maurya Hotel, which is hosting the high-profile guest.
The hotel is under strict security, with all rooms booked and corridors barricaded. Multiple agencies have set up checkpoints, grids, and rapid-response teams to ensure the visit goes smoothly.
Inside The Chanakya Suite
Putin is staying in ITC Maurya’s most luxurious suite, the Chanakya Suite, often compared to the Chandragupta Suite. The 4,600-square-foot room has hosted several world leaders over the years.
The suite blends heritage with modern comfort, featuring silk-panelled walls, dark wooden floors, and artwork, including artist Tyeb Mehta pieces and Arthashastra-inspired illustrations. Nightly rent is estimated between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 10 lakh. Dining is lavish, with Villeroy & Boch crockery and Cristal De Paris glassware.
The suite also includes a master bedroom with a walk-in closet, a private steam room and sauna, a gym, large reception areas, a 12-seat dining room, a guest room, a study, office spaces, and panoramic views of Delhi.
About ITC Maurya
ITC Maurya has been a top choice for global dignitaries for more than 40 years. The hotel has 411 rooms, 26 suites, nine food and beverage outlets, and five meeting venues.
