Delhi Tourism is going beyond its usual tourist hubs and hours. The tourism body has broadened its curated Heritage Walks programme to include more sites of historic and cultural significance across the capital. Through the initiative, Delhi Tourism aims to boost the city’s experiential and night tourism and encourage even more tourists to come to Delhi.
According to reports, Delhi Tourism recently organised a dedicated heritage walk for officials of REC Limited – Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise, which falls under the Ministry of Power.
Going Beyond Delhi’s Traditional Hotspots
During the walk for the officials of REC Limited, Delhi Tourism provided them with glimpses of the extensively preserved and refurbished Mehrauli Archaeological Park and the iconic Qutub Minar.
New Walks You Can Sign Up For
According to an official statement, the curated walks include experiences such as the “Haunted Heritage Walk” at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, “Dekho Apna CP” at the Connaught Place circuit, “Dilli Ka Dil Dekho – Walk of Shahjahanabad” in Old Delhi, and “Ek Shaam Shaheedon Ke Naam” at the National War Memorial.
The programme also features “Roshan-e-Dilli,” an evening walk through the Qutub Complex, a Food Walk in Old Delhi, and guided heritage trails across Qutub Minar, Mehrauli Archaeological Park, and the Hauz Khas complex. Other themed experiences include “Nawabon Ki Aakhri Nishani” and “Dilli Ka Dil – Worship Places Walk.”
Open For Everyone
Delhi Tourism’s heritage walks are easy to access and open for everyone interested in the city’s many sites and surroundings. Whether it is the corporate top brass and employees, public sector officials, school and college students, resident associations, or even domestic and international visitors. They can all sign up for a heritage walk.
The guided tours are organised on demand for groups of 25 or more participants and conclude by 8:30 PM. The cost is Rs 500 per person, with participants receiving a welcome kit that includes a bag, cap, wristband, and water bottle.
With plans set to introduce evening and night tours, the heritage walks, usually considered best for winter, would also be more attractive for tourists coming to Delhi in the summer. These tours and heritage walks are also beneficial for Delhi’s socio-economic scene as they not only help preserve the city’s heritage but also bring tourists close to local businesses near the historic sites.
