Former Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio turned muse for Manish Malhotra at the designer’s couture party at India Couture Week 2025.
Alessandra Ambrosio made her debut on the Indian runway.
In a first-of-its-kind format shift, designer Manish Malhotra turned heads and redefined runway standards by hosting a couture party on Day 4 of the Hyundai India Couture Week. Adding a global twist to the dazzling evening, Brazilian supermodel and former Victoria’s Secret Angel, Alessandra Ambrosio, made her India debut as the showstopper for the designer’s latest collection in not one but two looks.
Striding down the runway in two signature Manish Malhotra ensembles, Alessandra Ambrosio embodied the perfect harmony of Indian craftsmanship and couture elegance. This vision encapsulated the designer’s signature maximalist aesthetic.
Look 1: The Sculpted Saree
Alessandra’s first look reimagined the traditional saree with a strikingly modern edge. The ensemble featured a liquid silver palette that shimmered under the lights, anchored by a sculpted bralette-style blouse with a plunging sweetheart neckline and strappy detailing. The fitted mermaid-cut skirt, tailored to hug her form, was completed with a rhinestone-studded drape that flowed over one shoulder, echoing the silhouette of a classic palla.
Statement diamond jewellery elevated the ensemble: a bold necklace, earrings, rings, and an intricately designed haath phool gave the outfit a luxurious Indian finish. The sleek styling, including a centre-parted bun and minimalistic dewy makeup, kept the focus firmly on the outfit’s dazzle.
Look 2: The Couture Lehenga
For her second appearance, Alessandra took to the ramp in a show-stopping cocktail lehenga dripping in pearls and crystals. The voluminous A-line skirt sparkled with embellishments, while the strapless bustier blouse featured a dramatic plunging neckline and structured peplum waist.
To complement the ethereal white-and-silver tones, she adorned the look with a ruby-and-diamond choker, matching earrings, and a delicate maang teeka that added a regal touch. Once again, the slicked-back bun and radiant nude-glam makeup allowed the ensemble’s rich textures to shine through.
Manish Malhotra’s couture party at the India Couture Week was spread across two halls at the Taj Palace, New Delhi. While the first hall witnessed the fashion show, the second hall presented a nostalgic nod to Bollywood’s most iconic fashion moments.
