    The Meaning of Mahaparinirvan

    The term Mahaparinirvan is derived from Sanskrit and signifies ultimate liberation or nirvana. Dr. Ambedkar’s followers believe that he achieved this state due to his actions, which is why his death anniversary is celebrated as Mahaparinirvan Day. Like Lord Buddha, Ambedkar is regarded as a virtuous guru who achieved liberation.

    More About Dr. BR Ambedkar

    Born on April 14, 1891, Dr. BR Ambedkar, also known as Babasaheb, was a jurist, economist, politician, and social reformer.

    He became the first Law Minister of Independent India and was instrumental in drafting the Indian Constitution.

    His tireless efforts to fight against Dalit discrimination and his vision for an egalitarian society make him a revered figure in India and beyond.

    Dr. Ambedkar’s Conversion and Final Journey

    On December 6, 1956, Dr. Ambedkar passed away after converting to Buddhism, fulfilling his vow not to die a Hindu. His cremation at Dadar Chowpatty Beach (Chaitya Bhoomi) on December 7 was attended by millions of mourners. Today, Chaitya Bhoomi stands as a major pilgrimage site for Ambedkarites and Buddhists across the world.

    Ambedkar’s Lasting Impact
