News of the restructuring has gone viral as, supposedly, Warner Bros. Games shall run operations focusing on four flagship IPs that are Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Mortal Kombat, and DC.

A sleek image was shared with this post, featuring the four worlds side by side, each bearing the most iconic symbols-literal bold lightning bolt for Harry Potter, the Iron Throne for Game of-Thrones, the Mortal Kombat dragon emblem, and the DC logo itself. This visual reminds everyone of the commitment these big earners of Warner Bros. have in gaming and other media routes.
While some went wild for the news, others maintained their little doubts. A user pretty much nailed it with their comment: “And they’ll still do fuck all with it,” summarizing fan frustration based on the notion that, since forever, it seems Warner Bros. has done little with their vast IP catalog.” Another opinion went on to say, “They need new series. I think people are tired of seeing the same thing over and over.”
The need for some games has never been so clear in the comments. Several commenters clamored for Injustice 3, the spotlighted next installment in the famed DC fighting game franchise. “Give us Injustice 3 already DAMN” said one user. Another enthusiastically replied to the comment with a GIF: “WE NEED INJUSTICE 3!” There’s still hopes for more DC content; however, some fans hope for many other superhero games aside from Batman. “Hopefully, the DC franchise division remembers that Batman’s not the only character they can make games about,” one commenter remarked.
Harry Potter fans need to be louder, with many demanding an announcement for the sequel to Hogwarts Legacy. “Hogwarts Legacy 2 on the make 👀” one user teased while another demanded, “Give us a Sequel to Hogwarts Legacy!” The first game’s success only increased the appetite for a second magical adventure.
The Game of Thrones community had to get involved, with one person hoping for a game to go alongside the hit prequel series House of the Dragon. “Living for a game based on House of the Dragon,” they said, replete with a gif showing epic dragon battles from the show. Another showed high hopes that Warner Bros. would “put on the gas” with more releases from the Game of Thrones franchise.
Finding plenty to dislike in the restructuring, many felt at least some franchises should be included beyond those named in restructuring. One user grimly listed quite a few IPs they’d be happy to see adaptations of, including The Matrix, Mad Max, and even a bit of classic Hanna-Barbera for good measure with Scooby-Doo. The other user said with a smile, “Warner Bros really looked at their catalog and said: ‘Let’s organize by trauma type.’”
Beyond the restructuring, it definitely raises the question as to how Warner Bros. Games will be allowing these big franchises to run while keeping the fan base in check. Will this lead to usual freemium releases, or is this going to stifle new attempts because of these four quarter focuses? Only time can tell, but the one thing that became very clear is that gamers are really watching as closely as they can and are not shy about screaming their demands.

That brings us one fact, out of the whole pandemonium of reactions: a brand of fandom exists that will either celebrate or critique their next aspect. Be it for incredible new games or just more of the same, the dialogue is far from over.
