Tiffani Thiessen went completely against the grain in starting this hot dog debate. The Saved By The Bell star shared a goofy July 4 prep video wherein she put ketchup and mustard on a hot dog in just about the worst way imaginable, and, let’s just say, people had SOME THOUGHTS.

The clip shows Thissen laughing and smearing sauce on a hotdog, promoting Chalk Couture summer products under the caption: “You ready for July 4th???” The craft supplies, however, went nowhere-the debate on the ketchup became legendary in the comments.
First comment: “Nobody puts ketchup on a hotdog.” And here started the Replies civil war over condiments. The replies came very fast: “Yeah they do,” “Mustard!,” “Yes we do. Ketchup, mustard and relish all at the same time,” and simply, “I do.”
Moving the debate to the international scene, some suggested Brazilian-style hot dogs, where the dogs are simmered in a tomato-garlic sauce and topped with corn, peas, quail eggs, and (controversially) raisins. The comment claimed, “It’s so flavorful, you’ll never eat another dry hot-dog again in your life.” Most, however, agreed that raisins would better be excluded.
Some of the reactions were along the lines of unacceptance of the visual of a messy hot dog, such as “My anxiety can’t handle this.” Another one jokingly asked, “Tell me who tf is going to eat that now…ANYONE?” The nostalgic vibes grew through the comments until one said, “only Kelly Kapowski can make that look sexy,” to which another responded, “well she did work at The Max.” These 90s TV references will never grow old.
The post helped to dig up those puzzling, random late-night hot dog confessions, one of them coming from an Englishman living in Spain, saying: “the hot dogs here are vile.” Another cryptic comment read, “I had a dream like this once…” Clearly, people are passionate about their hot dog toppings, even in their dreams.
Of course it was a fun way to show off a few Chalk Couture goodies, but she also reignited one of America’s largest and angriest food debates. The comments really testify to two things: 1) People feel very, very strongly about proper hot dog condiments, and 2) Tiffani Thiessen could make even a condiment disaster look good.
Come July 4th, this is just a guarantee for actual backyard barbecues in real life across all of America where this very debate will again be acted out. Whether you’re Team Ketchup, Team Mustard, or that awkward guy who just slaps mayonnaise all over a hot dog (yes, that comment exists), Thiessen’s post was a reminder, albeit a funny one, that even the simplest things, like a hot dog, can ignite passionate disputes.

One real consensus? Nobody wants to clean that mess down with condiments. Happy grilling season, everyone, with perfectly topped hot dogs, unlike Tiffani’s chaotic July 4th.
