The Great Gatsby Is The Bees Knees And You Can’t Miss It!

If The Great Gatsby taught us anything, it’s that the 20s really were roaring! But as the touring Broadway musical rolls into Austin this week, our question is this: will the touring production sparkle as much as the Broadway show? Spoiler alert: the answer is yes.

The Great Gatsby Is The Bees Knees And You Can’t Miss It!

One of my biggest concerns with touring productions is whether the spectacle of the stage will be downsized for the tour. Often it is. But, luckily for us, that is not the case with The Great Gatsby. The props are, in one word, outstanding! From champagne bubbles, to sparklers and fireworks, this show is truly ritzy, glitzy and glamorous.

And, the cast is hotly-totsy too! Honestly, this is one of the best touring casts I’ve ever seen. There’s not a withering daisy in the bunch. Speaking of Daisy, Senzel Ahmady portrays the role with style, grace and a fabulous voice. Leanne Robinson’s portrayal of Jordan Baker is equally as impressive while both of male leads possess show stopping voices as well! It’s no surprise both Jake David Smith and Joshua Grosso have played Marius in Les Miserables.

    About The Great Gatsby

Based on the classic American novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the Tony Award®-winning musical is an unforgettable journey of love, wealth and tragedy. The Roaring Twenties come to life on stage with dazzling costumes and sets, toe-tapping tune and choreography that will have you wanting to throw your hands up and kick into the Charleston right there in your seat! In fact, I think I saw someone actually do this. Kudos to choreographer Dominique Kelley who has worked with So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing With The Stars and more!
