Australian actress Aubri Ibrag admits she’s nervous about her family seeing her racy scenes in the new season of The Buccaneers.
The period drama, following a group of American women as they marry into the British aristocracy, takes a turn for Ibrag’s character Lizzy Elmsworth, who has an affair with a married man.
“To be fair, I didn’t exactly tell my parents about it yet,” she admits to 9honey Celebrity.

“I mentioned it like lightly, I told my sister that if they ever do watch the second season to avoid a certain episode, so hopefully they do that.”
The bodice-ripping episodes begin this week and the actress says she’s simply “keeping my fingers crossed” that it goes down OK with her parents.
“I’m not sure how they’re gonna react to that, so keeping my fingers crossed that I don’t get disowned,” she says with a laugh.
Her scene partner Guy Remmers who plays Theo, the Duke of Tintagel, has the opposite reaction.

“There’s no way my parents are missing any eps,” Remmers laughs.
“They love it. They’ll watch it, but maybe I can mute it.”
As the cast laugh at his solution, Ibrag suggests: “Muting it might be more intense. Maybe just put a blindfold over their eyes.”
Though the TV series is based on books, Lizzy and Theo’s affair may come as a shock to fans in light of her relationship with respected politician Hector Robinson (played by Jacob Ifan) and the fact that Theo’s married to one of Lizzy’s best friends, Nan (played by Kristine Frøseth).
“I think her vulnerability and sort of her yearning for love, I would say [drew me to Lizzy],” Ibrag tells 9honey Celebrity about identifying with her character.
“I think she’s a romantic, she believes in true love, and that’s her driving force.
“She obviously goes through a lot in season one, and doesn’t have a very good experience and then in season two, it’s hard for her to sort of trust and open up. Hopefully she manages to do that, we’ll see. Don’t want to give away any spoilers.”
For Remmers, getting to play the good guy-turned-bad boy was something he relished.

“[It’s] definitely more fun,” he tells 9honey Celebrity.
“I think when you get that opportunity to show a different side to someone, that’s always really exciting and nerve-wracking.
“It was a side that wasn’t explored massively in season one, apart from episode five, there’s like a glimmer of this wounded person inside… and that kind of pain, scared person, came out in many different shapes and sizes.”

There’s also one scene this series which is Saltburn-esqe for Remmers – a dancing around the house moment.
“It was probably one of the best shooting experiences I’ve ever had, it was just, it was a vibe,” he tells 9honey Celebrity.
The Buccaneers season two is on AppleTV+ now, with new episodes released weekly.
