While the news of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement may have left Swifties around the world in shock, it seems the plan has been up his sleeve for quite some time now.
It turns out the lead up to the internet-breaking engagement announcement was at least six months, according to Page Six.
A source told the publication that the Kansas City Chiefs tight-end began planning the proposal about six to eight months ago.

That means Kelce would have had wedding bells on his mind after only one-and-a-half years of dating. They do say, “When you know, you know”.
According to the publication, this timeframe was essential as it “took a while” for designers to put together Swift’s show-stopping ring – an old mine cushion cut diamond from New York-based Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry.
It appears the ring was complete by July as Kelce’s father Ed Kelce revealed in conversation on The Jimmy and Nath Show that he saw the ring early that month.

Ed also revealed that his son asked Swift’s father, Scott Swift, for his permission around a month ago before finally popping the question earlier this month.
In conversation with Today‘s Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo let slip that the proposal happened a couple of weeks ago.
“It was a couple of weeks ago that Travis got it done,” he recalled.
Ed joked that Travis was under some serious pressure from himself and Taylor’s dad Scott Swift, who had been giving him a few weeks of “prodding”.

Several outlets have reported that the pair were not yet engaged when they filmed their record-breaking New Heights podcast on which Swift announced her new album The Life of a Showgirl.
In fact, it is believed that the proposal happened that evening after filming the episode.
But the pair waited a while before breaking the news to the world in a joint post on Instagram, writing: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married”.

A friendship bracelet led to a love story that captured the world
Knowing the mastermind that Swift is they likely put a lot of thought into when they would make the announcement – and that seems to be the case with eagle-eyed Swifties cluing into the specific dates of recent events.
Swift, a fan of numerology, has long considered the number 13 to be her lucky number and has made references to the number many times throughout her career.
Swift’s podcast debut on Kelce’s sport podcast dropped on August 13, an understandable choice given her love for the number.

Then, the announcement of their engagement came on August 26 – exactly 13 days after the podcast dropped.
Several Swifties have also done some digging with Swift’s penchant for numerology in mind and noted that the 26th track on her most recent album The Tortured Poets Department is The Prophecy, a song in which Swift begs to “change the prophecy” on an ill-fated love life.
Swift fans have noted that her relationship with Kelce and their engagement has finally changed the prophecy.
