Russell Brand Calls Joe Rogan The New Oprah And Twitter Explodes

    -

Russell Brand just took to Twitter to drop a bombshell comparing Joe Rogan with Oprah Winfrey, and you can well imagine-the people had THOUGHTS. The former comedian-turned-commentator tweeted on Rogan stating that he is “the Oprah of our time”, underlining how the two celebrities are creating huge cultural definitions under sheer influence. The internet? No, they weren’t going down quietly-at least not.

In Brand’s tweet, he argued that all this time and space, what Roegan actually does is set trends as opposed to reflecting them-an almost synonymous quality with Oprah at her heyday. And while some might support that, many others-well, let’s just say the replies are a MESS. “You need to go down an Oprah rabbit hole my friend …” -The old rifle returned the favor “which-okay, vague but intriguing? Now boscotrader gets all showily shallow on the return: “Just way better muscle tone.” Priorities, people.

Things went from bad to worse. User fp took Oprah right down with “Oprah never made me think about anything except when she lost the beef lawsuit.” Brutal. From Citizen Cast came the nuclear blast with “Please don’t insult Joe… Oprah is a pedophile elite,” referencing her past association with controversial figures. Ouch. Then, Bob Trooper threw in his oar and turned the blame to Brand himself by saying, “You are the Bill Cosby of our time.” DAMN.

But of course not everybody painted with the same brush this way, just like Denny Green who claimed that Rogan is “a completer original,” while extolling Old Tiger that he heard people opposing the view-something they implied Oprah didn’t do. And there was Kateri who simply stated, “I don’t think Joe Rogan eats children.” Which, uh…thanks for the clarification, I guess?

The wildest part? Some replies had NOTHING whatsoever to do with the topic. Catherine Chassay cheered on Brand randomly for “noticing your shirt buttons.” Nedo, meanwhile, bizarrely blamed Brand for “bathing in the blood of Palestinian children.” Like… what?

And the moral of the story is that comparing Rogan to Oprah is tantamount to an entrée into hell. For some, the truth-seeking bad-boy revolutionist; others see him overrated-and some just REALLY hate Oprah. But one thing is definite, Brand’s tweet got busy hitting the keys. No matter which side of the argument you fall on, one thing this discussion demonstrates: Rogan’s influence is undeniable. Now excuse me while I go Google that beef lawsuit thing…
