Prince Harry Meghan Markle news: Kim Kardashian reveals reason why pictures of royals at Kris Jenner 70th birthday deleted

    -

There was plenty of speculation as to why photos of Prince Harry and Meghan from Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday were swiftly deleted from social media, but now we know why.

Kim Kardashian, 45, has finally revealed the truth behind why she and mum Kris wiped the pictures from their Instagram accounts last November.

“It was really innocent, which is so crazy,” the Skims co-founder said on her sister Khloé Kardashian’s podcast, Khloé In Wonder Land on Wednesday.

“Mum and Meghan have been friends for some years now, and they have a really sweet relationship,” she added.

The Skims founder and her ‘momager‘ went through the photos from her star-studded James Bond-inspired 70th birthday together to decide which ones to post online.

“We were told that it was totally cool to post. And then after it was posted, I think they realised it was Remembrance Day, and they didn’t want to be seen at a party, even though it’s already up, you know, and then taken down,” Kim recalled.

“And then I think they realised, like, ‘Oh, this was so silly.'”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were photographed earlier in the night at the Baby2Baby Gala, which Kim said she thought may have been “fine” despite the day, rather than the former working royals partying on the dance floor with celebrities.

“So we took them down to respect Remembrance Day,” she said to Khloé.

“You got to laugh at, like, the situation sometimes and just, like, lighten it up and be if everyone’s taking it the wrong way, like, lean in.”

Kim joked they should do a full Skims campaign with this strategy.

“Take the photo – even just us, like, I’ll shoot you at mom, you know, post it and then delete it, like, 30 minutes later. And then say, ‘Oh, sorry, I didn’t have permission to post those photos for the campaign,'” she said.

The reality star turned businesswoman believes that the photo drama would have been “received differently” if they “made it light and made it funny.”

“But I hated how that was received for everyone,” she explained.

“That sucks. It was just made into something that was so crazy and ridiculous that just didn’t have to be.”

In November 2025, the duke and duchess arrived at the lavish bash held at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s Beverly Hills mansion hand in hand.

Throughout the night the couple mingled with the likes of the Kardashians, Beyonce, Parish Hilton, Bill Gates, Mark Zukerberg and more.

As photos from the celebrations started to drop online, both Kris and Kim shared snaps that included Harry and Meghan – which came down almost as quickly as they went up.

At the time there were reports circulating that the royal couple hadn’t agreed for their pictures to be posted.

The royals had reportedly checked “no” on a photo consent form they received prior to the party held on November 10 (US time), according to royal reporter Tom Sykes’ The Royalist Substack, which meant they didn’t want photos of themselves inside the event to be shared to the public.

Other sources reported the reason the photos were deleted was out of respect, considering it was Remembrance weekend in the UK.

Meghan received criticism for not wearing a poppy on her outfit like her husband did, marking the occasion.
