Olivia Rodrigo surprises fans with Ed Sheeran duet in London ahead of headlining Glastonbury

    -

Days out from headlining Glastonbury 2025, Olivia Rodrigo gave fans a preview of what to expect when she took to the stage at London‘s Hyde Park.

The singer opened the British Summer Time concert series kicking off with some of her biggest hits, including Bad Idea Right? and Vampire.

There were plenty of big singalongs with the packed crowd, including songs like Drivers License and Deja Vu, which even James Corden couldn’t keep from singing along to in the crowd.

But perhaps the biggest screams from the 65,000-strong crowd came when the 22-year-old brought out Ed Sheeran on-stage, who she labelled “one of the greatest songwriters”.

Rodrigo and Sheeran, both with guitars in hand, sung a duet version of Sheeran’s 2011 hit The A Team.

Rodrigo has previously called Sheeran’s music a huge influence on her own songwriting, while Sheeran has praised the 22-year-old, calling her an “extreme talent” and describing her albums Sour and Guts as “un-skippable”.

That wasn’t the only time Rodrigo showed off her musical talents, also playing the piano and taking to the electric guitar in several songs, including Obsessed.

At one stage, the sea of purple cowboy hats and sequins skirts stunned the California-born singer, who called London her “favourite city”.

“I’ve had so many special moments in London, in this park actually, so this is like my dream gig,” she told the audience.

She told the crowd she enjoys “boiled eggs and soldiers with a builders tea” to try and be more English.

The British theme continued through her performance, with Rodrigo telling a story about an English boy she was “crushing on” that inspired her song So American.

“I love England, I love everything English – I like the humour, I like the little sweets you get in M&S … and I like the boys,” she said.

Rodrigo’s London show kicks off the European leg of her continuing GUTS world tour and also comes just days out from her historic Glastonbury gig.

Rodrigo, 22, will be the second-youngest performer to close out the festival on Sunday night, after Billie Eilish – who was just 20 years old when she took top billing back in 2022.

But it won’t be the Drivers License singer’s first time at Glastonbury, having performed there in 2022 on a smaller stage.
