Nick Cannon and Alyssa Scott are remembering their late son Zen, who died from brain cancer in 2021.
On Sunday, the parents hosted a special celebration in honor of their little one, who would have turned three on June 23rd.
āToday is the day we celebrate the life of my little guy Zen Scott Cannon, truly an Angel so every 6/23 is a tough one. But the goal is always to try to turn pain into purpose. I love you Zen. Your light will shine forever my Son. #ZensLightā, Nick wrote on Instagram.
He continued, āThank you for all the love and support that everyone sent our way today. Truly appreciate everyone who showed up and celebrated our beautiful Angel, ZEN SCOTT CANNON 6/23.ā
In December 2021, Cannon announced on his talk show that his son had succumbed to a brain tumor that was discovered when he was just two months old.
Nick Cannon and Alyssa Scott chose not to pursue invasive treatments for their baby boy, focusing instead on giving him a comfortableĀ life, however brief.
āWe were faithful and hopeful for that time,ā Cannon said on his talk show. āWe carried on, he was still just playing with his brothers and sisters, I embraced every moment.ā
In 2022, the couple announced the creation of a foundation in Zenās honor through a joint Instagram post.
āJune 23rd will forever be a day of celebration. A beautiful lighting ceremony to honor the life of an Angel. Zenās birth has now transformed into āZenās Light,ā ā Cannon wrote.
āWe are proud to announce his new foundation that will help so many others in this world. āZenās Lightā mission is to foster global excellence in hope, grief care and pediatric healthcare for families and children in need,ā the 41-year-old Wild Nā Out host explained.
Zen was Cannonās seventh and youngest child. He has a total of 12 kids in all.
