    Michael Bolton shares rare family photo amid cancer battle

    Michael Bolton has marked the holidays in a meaningful way amid his cancer battle.

    The American singer, 71, shared a rare family photo to social media of him celebrating Christmas with his nearest and dearest.

    It marks his first family photo since announcing his brain cancer diagnosis in January.

    “Sending warm wishes for a holiday season filled with peace, love, and joy,” he captioned the heartwarming picture on Facebook.

    In the photo, the When a Man Loves a Woman singer is seen sitting on the couch wearing a Santa hat with wrapped presents and a lit up Christmas tree in the background.

    “May the New Year bring health, happiness, and countless moments to cherish,” he said.

    “Here’s to fresh starts and beautiful moments in 2025!” the singer signed off.

    The post was inundated with messages of well wishes for the singer.

    On January 6, Bolton shared a social media statement revealing he had been diagnosed with brain cancer in 2023 ahead of the holidays.

    The ’80s star revealed he underwent “immediate” surgery, which was successful.

    After his diagnosis and operation, Bolton said he was “recuperating at home and surrounded by the tremendous love and support of my family”.

    In his message, the singer said he would be taking a “temporary break” from touring to focus his “time and energy to my recovery”.

    “It is always the hardest thing for me to ever disappoint my fans or postpone a show, but have no doubt I am working hard to accelerate my recovery and get back to performing soon,” he wrote to his millions of followers.

    In October, the star cancelled his upcoming performances amid his ongoing recovery.

    Bolton explained he was “not quite 100 per cent yet”.

    “It is challenging and often times frustrating because I just want to be out there performing for you but I need a little more time to build back my full strength and stamina,” he said.

    The How Am I Supposed to Live Without You singer said his progress was “good” and he had some projects he had been working on.

    Bolton has been on the music scene since the ’70s, with hits like Said I Loved You… But I Lied and That’s What Love Is All About.

    In June 2023, Bolton released a new studio album titled Spark of Light. A year later he came out with the deluxe version of the record.

    Speaking to Today’s Sarah Abo in July 2023, Bolton opened up about his 50-year career and his new album.

    The star said “we have the pandemic to thank” for his new music.

    “Everyone I knew seemed like they needed to feel good again and have light in their lives again,” he explained, adding that’s where the concept for his album name came from.
