Max Greenfield, who has become a household name after portraying Schmidt on the hit sitcom ‘New Girl’, is now yet another celebrity who is using the power of his fame for a worthy cause. The actor has partnered with Subaru and AdoptAClassroom.org in hopes of raising awareness of various issues facing students and teachers, starting with lack of funding. Greenfield shared an emotional caption on Instagram about visiting one classroom where a tiny chair stood next to a supersized certificate that he jokingly proclaimed, “NOTHING is too big for the youths!”

The video below the caption had Greenfield talking about what it meant to be an underfunded school and hammered it home: 92% of teachers across the U.S. report having students in their classes whose families cannot afford to buy them school supplies. Through its partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, Subaru has, in turn, been able to help almost 950,000 schoolchildren all across the country, and in doing so has a voice about providing equal activities for education.
Max Greenfield fans could not help but draw comparisons with their beloved New Girl character Schmidt, with one user joking, “Schmidt landed the Subaru account,” while another said, “Me, being an educator with a Subaru, whose favorite show is New Girl, feeling very happy.” The nostalgia was strong, with several contributors recalling some classic Schmidt moments, including that infamous “youths” line Greenfield delivered with perfection in the video clip.
And another avid fan stated, “I was watching this with NO sound on and even with no context about what you were talking about… I instantly knew you were saying ‘youths’ simply by your facial movements!” The comment section was soon filled with accolades for Greenfield’s comedic timing and dedication to the cause.
Some took a more serious tone; one commenter states, “God forbid our tax dollars pay for our whole country’s children to be educated and fed.” That was the moment a time-out was necessary amid all the laughing. It reminded one and all of the fact that while Greenfield’s involvement is indeed exhilarating, systemic change is desperately needed.
An ex-educator gave another comment: “This is so awesome, Max!! As a former school educator (and Subaru driver) I am 100% behind this.” Another simply thanked him for ‘being a champion for teachers and students.’
That concoction of light humor amid heartfelt concern struck a chord. The reception, whether reminiscing about New Girl or cheering on the initiative, was otherwise hugely positive. If one or two people are thus reminded to get behind the cause, then that giant certificate was worth every penny.

Max Greenfield, in the end, proved once again to be so much more than just the funny guy-he’s the guy who cares. And if sitting in a tiny chair for a good cause is the only option, then so be it. We are worth it.
