Marvel Studios celebrated an announcement for the triple-episode premiere scheduled for June 24 at 6 PM PT/9 PM ET on Disney Plus for the upcoming Ironheart series. A new poster from design house Gravillis Inc was released showing the armored heroine striking a high-tech power pose, ready for action. With such anticipation, perhaps it was built up by the studio itself; however, the reaction online has been… a lot less than enthusiastic.

The post triggered a torrent of comments. Ranging from cautious optimism all the way to outright hostility; there was a user who said, “And no one will watch it”, while another cried out, “I missed Stark dawg!”, in a reference to the late Tony Stark, whose legacy is presently being carried ahead by the character named Riri Williams (Ironheart). Another oft-repeated refrain was of Marvel trying to push characters people “no one asked for”; another commenter wrote, “In two weeks no one will watch this… cos no one asked for it.”

Some were positive, but barely a handful. A few of the peeks came in defense. “Stop being weird. If it’s good, then it’s good. We will see,” came an answer from one user to the detractors. Some other users posted a GIF with over-the-top excitement, suggesting that there’s still some anticipation just beneath the surface.

The roll-out, though, more in its dropping three episodes all at once, gathered some scrutiny: “3 episodes at once means it’s bad. They’re trying to rush through this as soon as they can,” one theorized. Another expressed contempt toward Marvel’s whole-release plan, posing the question, “Why u always dropping too many episodes?”

Some of the more extreme opinions ever so outlined further with commentary on the show itself: “Garbage story and a shit on Iron Man’s legacy,” one detractor exclaimed; the other essentially shouted, “We don’t want this trash!” The hate is spreading to a broader disinterest in Marvel’s more recent efforts, with quite a few comments drawing on past failures and dwindling love for the brand.

Some of the hopeful, smaller responses are sure coming from genuine interest, with one optimistically informed, “That’s good because the premiere is the same time as my Marvel Legends figure delivery.” There was even a plea for a Tamil dub, which goes to show that in the middle of all this backlash, there exists an active audience waiting to jump in—just maybe not the one Marvel was counting on.

Ironheart, then, will it awaken the skeptical masses, or will it be another hanger-on dying of “superhero fatigue”? One thing is for sure, though: these Marvel fans never shied from giving feedback-unfolding this rollout into an instant battleground.

Will you be watching on the 24th of June? Or will this be another Marvel project rotting in your Disney Plus queue? The conversation will go on regardless.
