Martin Short is weathering an unimaginable tragedy.
Katherine Short, the Only Murders in the Building star’s only daughter with late wife Nancy Dolman, has died. She was 42.
“It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short,” Martin’s rep said in a Feb. 24 statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “The Short family is devastated by this loss and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.”
Katherine died by apparent suicide, law enforcement sources told TMZ, with the Los Angeles Police Department responding to her Hollywood Hills home on Feb. 24.
E! News has reached out to Martin for comment but hasn’t heard back.
Katherine was the oldest of Martin and Nancy’s three kids, preceding younger brothers Oliver Short, 39, and Henry Short, 36. Her passing comes 15 years after Nancy, an actress and a singer, died of ovarian cancer at age 58.
