Queen Mariah Carey has very recently gifted yet another jewel to the world: the music video for “Dangerous,” and with that, the internet has gotten nothing but to rage on with anticipation. The Queen of Christmas (and everything else) gave the world the visual airing completely unannounced; henceforth leaving Mona Lisa-esque evidence of how almost the entire world comes to a halt when Mimi moves. Glamour, attitude, and that Mariah touch! One can unmistakably claim that this was her finest video in many years.

The interesting journey starts with Carey bathed in luxurious fabrics showering drama unto the world starting with the very first frame. She pretty much sang to the highs of Mariah vocal gymnastics, with “diva energy” kind of poses from here to eternity. The set and production design were not spared-extravagant costume changes behind the stage and quite a surprise cameo from YouTube sensation MrBeast-well, basically for no reason. One moment that stood out was Mariah’s deadpan delivery of, “I don’t know him,” and fans went berserk since that was just one of several instances of playful shade.

Comments proceeded to ensue. Some poured praises such as “The budget!!! Mariah’s best video in yearssss” and some had funny criticisms note-worthy of “Girl why you laying on the floor?” (Classic Mimi.) The MrBeast insert was cause for some baffled amusement, “But why was MrBeast in it?” asked one; another replied, “That’s what got me 😂.”

The launch therefore kicked off speculation on her upcoming album, with fans betting that MC16, her sixteenth studio album, will be a big one. “New music, new album yasssss,” exclaimed one excited fan, while comments arose from the fresh energy sucked out: “This was worth the wait!!! 🦋👑🔥.”

Some, however, took no consideration of the music and instead stated why they liked the video: “J Lo moved back to Puerto Rico,” with reference to the long-standing, mostly playful rivalry between the two divas. The international squad chimed in with a comment from a Brazilian saying, “The new label is investing in her ❤️🦋 something the others did not since 2009.”

To keep the Mariah will alive and well means staying unpredictable. Whether it’s surprise visuals dropping, as in this case, celebrity-cameos-on-a-whim, or just laying on the floor dramatic-style, she’s got all the angles covered. After 30 years, don’t you think she’s allowed to do whatever she darn well pleases?

The video for ‘Dangerous’ is not just a comeback but a loud reminder that Mariah Carey runs on her own frequency. And honestly? We are just lucky to have been around to witness it.
