Justin Timberlake’s message in first social media post after revealing Lyme disease diagnosis

    -

Justin Timberlake is expressing with every fibre of his being that he needs a break – especially the fibre of his clothes.

The singer, 44, has just wrapped up his two-year-long world tour, the Forget Tomorrow World Tour, after which he revealed his debilitating diagnosis of Lyme disease.

Ready to hit the couch, he even has the appropriate attire – the star was pictured on his Instagram stories wearing a grey sweatshirt that said “I’m not doing shit today”.

Underneath in smaller letters were the words “mission accomplished” with a checked box next to it, with the Rock Your Body singer posing cheekily by poking his tongue out and holding up peace signs.

Just days ago, as his tour wrapped up in Istanbul, the singer took to social media to share his medical news.

”Living with this can be relentlessly debilitating, both mentally and physically,” Timberlake wrote.

“When I first got the diagnosis I was shocked for sure.

“But, at least I could understand why I would be onstage and in a massive amount of nerve pain or, just feeling crazy fatigue or sickness.”

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection, transmitted through the bite of a particular tick, the black-legged tick.

The bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi is the most common cause, Dr Leana Wen previously told CNN.

According to the outlet, “There are three stages of Lyme disease, which can include flu-like symptoms, dizziness, chest pain, palpitations, arthritis, facial nerve paralysis, ongoing joint pain, fatigue, depression, palpitations, and other neurological, rheumatological and cardiac involvement.”

Despite the dangers, the dad-of-two – who shares two sons with actress Jessica Biel – said he was “so glad I kept going.

“The joy that performing brings me far outweighs the fleeting stress my body was feeling.”

While he doesn’t know how his diagnosis will affect him in the future, he said he will hold this tour close to his heart.

“There really is no way to put into words the feeling of being on a stage and getting to share the experience of live music with all of you,” he wrote, “It’s a vibration of frequency that is unmatched.
