Pod Wives presented the perfect closing act, courtesy of Joe Budden. The man who deserves thanking in many ways in his Instagram post-in some way, from couples that made themselves available to an audience that made it a grand hit. While Joe Budden is getting his flowers, however, most of the comments actually divided themselves to co-host Marc Lamont Hill, whose stature on the show has truly grown since the fast-becoming prominent.

The teaser trailer promised untamed scenes for the season finale-pregnancy, intimacy, and a weird case-in-point of wife-swapping. One fan chuckled that the very thought of wife-swapping might just be worthy of a Patreon subscription. This chaotic energy is what sets this show apart, and it is precisely because of Hill that many feel the experience has gained another notch.

Comments praising Hill flowed in: “This takeover by him should be studied.” And then the comparison of Hill joining the podcast with Kevin Durant joining the Golden State Warriors-a cheat code that took things to another level. Another kept throwing darts at the joke, saying Hill is “collecting JBN spots like Infinity Stones.”

Doubtful, one said, “I don’t trust him lol.” That was the exception and not the rule. The general opinion was that eloquent and multifaceted Hill has been the change for good. Those who hadn’t been fans of the show from the start said they “might just have to watch it now for him.” One shared, “I hate Ian but Marc might even get me to watch the Ian & Marc show too.”

What started with praises for Hill’s performance soon turned into the celebration for Budden‘s importance in starting a Black-owned network-“a big deal.” Then the anticipation for season 2 started rolling in, “I’m getting a POD WIFE for season 2 😂😂😂😂😂😂.”

Not all were overjoyed. Some wondered if Flip’s downfall was caused by hanging around Hill’s strong commentary for too long, while others defended Flip, saying he’s just different. Meanwhile, some were just outright annoyed with another cast member: “I do wish they would get rid of Kino though.”

This season finale, set to feature an uninhibited rant with boundary-pushing conversations, is the exact promise fans have come to expect. And, if the response here is any indication, anticipation for season 2 is very well underway, especially if Marc Lamont Hill is indeed the breakout star.

“Marc about to sign a supermax this offseason 😂,” joked a fan. Whether it turns out to be a joke or a prophecy remains to be seen, but what is certain is that Pod Wives has carved out a solid niche in podcasting, and Marc Lamont Hill‘s presence owes some of that.
