On the Jesse Watters program, a guest from The Charlie Kirk Show, Andrew Kolvet, made some serious accusations against the leftwing radicals who he claimed had attacked the Turning Point USA event in Berkeley, California. He stated that not only were there thousands of people turned away through ticket manipulation but also through harassment and physical violence. Hence, he presented the whole situation as a well-planned move to thin the already growing movement of supporters out of them.

The uproar at UC Berkeley took place when the hilarious Rob Schneider was to be the main attraction at the event. Andrew Kolvet, a guest on Jesse Watters’ show, stated that the university’s handling of the matter posed a risk to the audience. He described the university’s setup which placed the entrance to the event right next to where the shouting protesters were, a ‘free speech plaza’, as practically inviting trouble.
He further told that the protests had become so violent that sabotage was one of the means used to bring about the downfall of the event. He accused that two weeks prior to the event, the university had taken over the ticket sale of the organizers, which was the cause of all the trouble since the movement’s Sds were then able to make an unholy alliance with the university’s ticketing system, reserving up to 500 tickets but not showing up at all. Thus, they aimed at leaving the hall empty and giving the impression that the movement was dying after what he called ‘Charlie’s assassination‘. Kolvet did not hold back his annoyance at the university’s rumored response: ‘it’s not our job to fill your event.’
Things soon got aggressive. Kolvet recounted the story of a car backfiring which sounded like a gunshot or an explosion and it took a while for people to stop panicking. He pointed out that this fear-inducing incident was the time when police involvement with the public greatly increased. Kolvet was very confident in his relevant labeling of the protesters as ‘far left and Antifa thugs,’ affirming that there was a planned tactic to weaken the event through silence.
Among many such incidents, one stood out that was very explicit and came from a person whom Kolvet referred to as ‘G-Hod.’ In his narration, he described a protestor wearing a red equality t-shirt who, while repetitively uttering the phrase ‘Jesus is Lord,’ was not only ignored by the crowd but also verbally attacked. The situation got really ugly when ‘G-Hod’ was said to have pulled the cross pendant off the man’s neck. The bystander was assaulted when he confronted the takedown. Kolvet claimed that the ‘G-Hod’ was arrested and booked at the end.
The internet had an immediate and strong reaction to Watters’ segment which exposed the deep political divisions. A large number of people criticized the situation and showed compassion for the way Kolvet presented it. For instance, one commentator went as far as to call the authorities to act firmly, rather say, ‘These terrorist groups need to be suppressed once and for all. Treat them like real terrorists.’ This feeling reveals the huge amount of anger among some spectators who see such disruptions as no more than a rough protest.
Another user lamented the disappearance of civilized exchanges and said, ‘It is really a poor reflection of the state the country has reached and the lifestyle of the people. They will have a negative impact on anything good. This is just disgusting.’ This viewpoint sees the showdown as not a singular event but rather a part of the larger decline of civility and tolerance.

The university’s criticism was likewise reflected in some interchanges among people commenting. One person commented, ‘BERKELY SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEIR WHOLE OPERATION! Would NEVER send my kids there!!!’ This implies that such instances cannot do anything but damage the trust an educational institution has with certain segments of society.
However, the reactions did not entirely favor the depicted story. A comment made by a person clearly stated that, ‘I’m calling it baloney. One way or another this conflict was staged.’ This indicates that there are still several people who have a hard time believing the whole event and see it as a publicity stunt or false-flag operation that is aimed at drawing empathy.
Another comment that was critical of the clash condemned the media’s coverage and argued, ‘And not like media showing the rampage against innocent people and painting the picture that ANTIFA is an international and domestic terrorist organization!?’ This is an accusation that mainstream media are deliberately softening the image of the leftist group’s activities.

Despite the conflicts and the alleged violence, Kolvet ended his testimony with a positive note. He maintained that the disruption tactics had finally backfired and also promised that the movement would be active thus implying that the current event is just one of many that will follow. The uproar at UC Berkeley is yet another example of the ongoing confrontation over free speech, assembly, and the limits of protests at American universities. Jesse Watters has been a prominent voice on such issues. The event also drew parallels to the powerful public display of faith discussed by Riley Gaines. Furthermore, the memorial for Charlie Kirk reportedly saw a massive turnout.
