Ohio Senator JD Vance is not holding back after ABC journalist Terry Moran posted what he called a “vile smear” against former Trump advisor Stephen Miller. The heated exchange online sidelines soon became the battleground with the true supporters and opponents of Miller engaged on the controversial motivations behind and enduring legacy of the figure.

Vance went on social media to defend Miller, calling the ABC journalist’s remarks “dripping with hatred” and demanding an apology from the network. “As it happens, I know Stephen quite well,” Vance wrote. “And he’s motivated by love of country. He’s motivated by a fear that people like Terry Moran make rules that normal Americans have to follow, but well-connected people don’t.”
The senator went on: “Miller really is the implementation arm of the Trump agenda. It’s why he fought so hard to get President Trump elected and why he works so hard to implement the agenda.”
However, the defense by Vance is not embraced by all. Very swiftly, critics of Miller, a controversial figure with hardline immigration policies reaction to Vance’s remarks. One user flatly said, “He’s motivated by racism and hatred for minorities. Everyone can see that.” Another compared him to Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels by calling him a “poor man’s wannabe fascist.”
Miller’s supporters rallied behind Vance’s dismissal of Moran’s criticisms as the usual biased press. “Moran’s post is dripping with the saliva of Satan,” said one user, “As most of legacy media lies do.” Another added, “Well what do you expect from a legacy media communist propagandist? No sane person takes them seriously anyway.”
The debate turned sharp when some soon highlighted the irony of Vance getting outraged, considering Trump’s own yardstick of burning hatred. “How is this any worse than what trumplestiltskin spews daily?” another threw in. One more: “You are such a makeup-wearing hypocritical super Douchebag. On a daily basis, Taco Trump says the most vile, disgraceful and hateful things about so many people, but that’s just fine with MAGA.”
They moved to the personal also when one user called out Vance regarding his marriage with Indian-American lawyer Usha Chilukuri Vance. “It’s beyond me how @SLOTUS can tolerate a guy like you who is ok with normalizing ‘Indian hate,’” states the comment.
As the debate rages on, there is one certainty: Stephen Miller remains one of the most divisive figures in modern American politics. Thought of either as a patriot or as a villain, his impact on the policy of Trump and the strong reactions he draws seem far from declining.

While ABC has not responded to Vance’s call for an apology, the online battlefield shows no sign of cooling off any time soon. The temperatures are through the roof politically, and this little skirmish is just another bout on the ongoing war over media bias, free speech, and the legacy of the Trump administration.
