Splits and marriage breakdowns are undeniably hard.
Add in being fired, and things get even harder.
That’s exactly what Hollywood star Gwyneth Paltrow had to deal with around the time of her “conscious uncoupling” from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, who she was married to from 2003 to 2016.

They announced their shock split in 2014, making global headlines with their use of the unusual phrase to describe the separation.
Speaking to Amy Poehler on her podcast Good Hang with Amy Poehler, Paltrow, 53, said she thinks the fallout of the announcement, and the criticism she copped at the time, affected her career.
“I was supposed to do a movie at one point,” she began.
“It was right after the conscious uncoupling thing with Chris, and there was a lot of harsh stuff in the press.

“I think the distributor was like, ‘This might be too hot to touch.'”
Showing off her sense of humour, Paltrow jokingly added, “So that was great, because I was getting a divorce and then I got fired and it was so awesome.”
The former couple famously announced their “conscious uncoupling” in 2014 on her Goop website.

“It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate,” they said at the time.
“We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and co-parent, we will be able to continue in the same manner.”

Now, the Shakespeare in Love star is married to writer-director Brad Falchuk, who she tied the knot with in the Hamptons back in 2018.
