Dwayne Johnson explained why he’s recently lost weight.
The actor and former wrestler is currently promoting The Smashing Machine, directed by Benny Safdie, in which he gained 30 pounds to play real-life UFC fighter Mark Kerr. He further donned a number of prosthetics for the part, which took three to four hours to apply.
As it turns out, Dwayne is teaming up with Benny again. He’ll be starring in an adaptation of Daniel Pinkwater’s 1976 kids’ book, Lizard Music, as a man whose best friend is a 70-year-old chicken.
Subsequently, the Rock spoke to Variety about losing weight for the part. “I’ve been dieting,” he said. “Happy to not be carrying all the weight. I’m able to tuck in my shirt now…I don’t look pregnant so it’s all good.”
“Think Clint Eastwood at 75. Sinewy muscles, he’s lean. But it feels good,” he continued.
