The entertainment world is in mourning, following the sudden passing of comedy legend Catherine O’Hara, aged 71.
As fans reflect on the life and legacy of the Schitt’s Creek and Home Alone icon, many are recalling her final red carpet appearance at the 2025 Emmy Awards, four months ago.
Accompanied by her husband of 34 years Bo Welch, O’Hara wore a black dress custom Dior, featuring three-quarter sleeves.
She took home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress for her role as Patty Leigh in hit series The Studio.
Sadly, it would prove to be her final accolade for a career that spanned over five decades.
“I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to play a woman of a certain age who gets to fully be her ridiculous self,” O’Hara previously said of the role in a 2020 awards acceptance speech.

The news of O’Hara’s death has prompted an outpouring of emotional tributes from friends and ex-cast members.
Macaulay Culkin, who played her son Kevin McAllister in Home Alone, shared a heartbreaking message on Instagram.
“Mama. I thought we had time. I wanted more. I wanted to sit in a chair next to you. I heard you but I had so much more to say. I love you. I’ll see you later.”
Schitt’s Creek co-star and creator, Dan Levy has also expressed his devastation at her passing, remembering her as a “rare performer who could disappear into a character and make them unforgettable.”

O’Hara’s agency, CAA, previously confirmed that the iconic comic had passed away in Los Angeles following a “brief illness.”
She was known to have a rare congenital heart condition called dextrocardia with situs inversus, but it was reportedly not considered a health risk.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call at O’Hara’s home at 4.48am on Friday (11.48pm AEDT) and she was taken to hospital in a “serious” condition, according to Page Six.
Dispatch audio from paramedics revealed O’Hara was having difficulty breathing. She was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead hours later.
The cause of her death has not been revealed.
Her absence from this year’s ongoing awards circuit, including the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards events, initially sparked concern among fans prior to her death.
O’Hara had been nominated for her performance in The Studio at the Golden Globes, but lost out to Adolescence’s Erin Doherty.
She is also nominated for her performance in the same role at the upcoming SAG Awards.
