Welcome to the Jungle! Hit West End show The Choir of Man is heading out on its first ever UK tour this spring, and the cast has finally been announced.
Featuring a cast of nine performers, taking on the roles of Poet, Maestro, Romantic, Joker, Barman, Handyman, Hardman, Beast, and the Bore, The Choir of Man is the most fun you can have down your local! The 90-minute show combines insane harmonies, singalongs, tap dancing and storytelling with well known hits from artists such as Queen, Adele, Paul Simon, Avicii and Katy Perry. If you’re lucky, you can even grab yourself a free pint!
The cast for the forthcoming tour includes Oluwalonimi (Nimi) Owoyemi as Poet, Gustav Melbardis as Maestro, Sam Walter as Romantic, Ben Mabberley as Joker, Joshua Lloyd as Barman, Jack Skelton as Handyman, Levi Tyrell Johnson as Hardman, Rob Godfrey as Beast, and Aaron Pottenger as Bore. They will be joined by Sam Ebenezer, Jared Leathwood, Niall Woodson, and Lewis Dragisic as swings.
The Choir of Man have also announced the launch of their Jungle Choir Community Project and – for the first time ever – are looking for local choirs in every tour city to join them on stage on opening night to sing alongside the cast.
The UK tour will begin in New Wimbledon Theatre on March 14 before heading to towns and cities including Bath, Cambridge, Brighton, Glasgow, Cardiff, Milton Keynes, Chester, Southend, High Wycombe, and Edinburgh.
Created by Nic Doodson and Andrew Kay, with direction from Doodson, The Choir of Man first came to life at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2017 and has since been performed across the world, including multiple stops in North America, China, Australia, and Europe. The show also played over 1000 shows at the Arts Theatre in London’s West End, but closed on January 4 due to the renovations at the theatre.
The tour is produced by HH Productions, Nic Doodson, Andrew Kay, Global Creative and Kenny Wax. The creative team includes Jack Blume (musical supervision, vocal arrangements and orchestrations), Freddie Huddleston (movement direction and choreography), Ben Norris (monologues), Oli Townsend (scenic design), Richard Dinnen (lighting design), Verity Sadler (costume and co-scenic design), Sten Severson (sound design) and Debbie O’Brien (casting).
