Famed filmmaker Paul Feig is defending actress Blake Lively amid her on-going legal battle with her former director and co-star Justin Baldoni.
After news the sequel to A Simple Favor would premiere at SXSW this year, the Another Simple Favor director hit back at the haters on social media, after one person cheekily asked if it was “Paul Feig’s cut or Blake’s cut?”.
“It’s my cut,” the 62-year-old replied.

“There is no other cut. Blake has been nothing but supportive and a dream to work with.
“She is the best and an amazing collaborator and I’m her biggest fan. Just wanted to clear that up.”
The Instagram user’s comment referred to claims Lively commissioned a preferred cut of It Ends with Us, which was showed to fans of the original book two months before the movie was officially released with director Baldoni’s cut.
Feig’s reply garnered hundreds of likes since it was posted, though the user’s quip scored thousands of likes and sparked hundreds of comments.

It’s not the first time the director has spoken out in defence of the former Gossip Girl star, who he first worked with in 2018.
“I’ve now made two movies with Blake and all I can say is she’s one of the most professional, creative, collaborative, talented and kind people I’ve ever worked with,” Feig wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
“She truly did not deserve any of this smear campaign against her. I think it’s awful she was put through this.”
He also hit out publicly at rumours he was delaying the release of Another Simple Favor in light of Lively’s legal drama playing out.
“This is total BS. Sorry,” Feig wrote on X in January.
“The movie is finished and coming out soon. Don’t believe anything you read on social media these days.”
And just weeks later he announced not only a release date but that the movie’s premiere would take place at one of the world’s biggest festivals, SXSW.
