Ashlee Simpson Ross made headlines back in 2004 for her Saturday Night Live performance, which turned into an awkward lip-sync scandal.
At the time, the singer, now 40, started to dance to music and perform when pre-recorded vocals came on to the wrong song, and she did an awkward leg shuffle.
She was accused of lip-syncing and some thought she had ruined her career. But now, she’s addressed the incident in a new podcast interview and spoke about how she bad the ”bullying” was.

“I think it’s a different era… I think during that time, I mean, the bullying was insane,” she said on the Pod Meets World podcast.
”Yes, I’ve had ups and downs just like every other human.”
When speaking about mistakes while being in the spotlight, and how it’s changed, she said: “For us, we had the magazines. Now everything’s kind of more fleeting.”

Ashlee later blamed what happened on “severe acid reflux” and said her manager dad said she should use a backing track to be on the safe side during her performance.
“Just like any artist in America, she has a backing track that she pushes so you don’t have to hear her croak through a song on national television,” her dad Joe Simpson reportedly said on KIIS-FM at the time.
Ashlee, who is the sister of fellow singer Jessica Simpson and once dated Fall Out Boy rocker Pete Wentz, is known for hits including L.O.V.E., Pieces of Me and Lala.
She is now set to begin her Las Vegas residency shows on August 29, in what will no doubt be a thrill for fans.
