In 2005, an on-screen fight on America’s Next Top Model between supermodel Tyra Banks and contestant Tiffany Richardson became part of pop culture history.
Now, more than two decades on, Richardson has fired back.
Before the yelling match, Banks was expressing disappointment in the aspiring model for not being more invested in the competition and joking around after she was eliminated.

“Tiffany, I’m extremely disappointed in you. This is a joke to you … This is serious to these girls, and it should be serious to you,” the host said.
Richardson responded, “Looks can be deceiving. I’m hurt … I can’t change it, Tyra … I’m sick of crying about stuff that I cannot change. I’m sick of being disappointed.”
“You ain’t sick of being disappointed, Tiffany,” Banks retorted.

“If you were sick of being disappointed, you would stand up and you would take control of your destiny. Do you know that you had a possibility to win? Do you know that all of America is rooting for you?”
The argument grew heated before Banks completely unleashed on Richardson.
“I have never in my life yelled at a girl like this,” she screamed, “When my mother yells like this, it’s because she loves me. I was rooting for you! We were all rooting for you!”

The moment showed our generation’s typically gracefully poised top model completely unhinged, her eyes wide and wig completely messed up as she shook with anger, cementing it in pop culture history and heard in regular conversation.
But over 20 years on, as the show goes under the microscope in Netflix’s Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model docuseries, it’s Richardson who has some choice words for Banks this time.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, Richardson blasted the 52-year-old.
“I BET YOU WONT SIT DOWN WITH ME FACE TO FACE AND TALK ABOUT IT!!!” she wrote.
She also claimed the footage was edited to make it seem like Banks “cared” about her.
Richardson, who has been working at a group home in Miami supporting those with mental disabilities since 2017, says she has “got more money and helping more people than all or many of the top models.

Richardson tagged the supermodel, telling her, “h-e just let it go, ITS BEEN OVER 20 years 😭.”
The now Sydney-based ice-cream shop owner acknowledged her part in the on-screen row.
On the Netflix show, the model and actress said, “I went too far. You know, I lost it.

“It was probably bigger than her. It was family, friends, society, black girls, all the challenges that we have. So many people saying that we’re not good enough. I think all that was in that moment.
“That’s some black girl stuff that goes real deep inside of me, but I knew I went too far.”
The show’s creative director, Jay Manuel, recalled the incident as “the most difficult moment on set I had ever experienced.”
He said after filming wrapped that day, ”production staff literally just took Tyra off set.”
“There was a lot more that was really said. And some of the things that were said were really not well-intentioned. I’ll probably never repeat the lines that were said in that room, that day.”
Fellow judge and runway coach Miss J. Alexander recalled the fight as “very scary” and said lawyers were on set the following week.
