Al Roker is reporting on a new topic: his weight loss.
The longtime Today weatherman recently shared how he’s maintained his 100-lb. weight loss for over 20 years. The 70-year-old explained that his routine consists of four sustainable steps he takes each day as part of his health journey.
“My mantra is ‘something is better than nothing,’” he told People in an interview published June 3. “Maybe you’ll be running marathons or entering weight-lifting contests, but I think most people just want a level of fitness that improves their quality of life.”
Al begins his day with 10 minutes of weight training and the same breakfast each day—yogurt, granola and sometimes a banana, too. Of his morning workout routine, he shared, “It’s not so much to bulk up but to keep your bones strong, keep your flexibility, which is important as you age.”
Al—who shares daughter Courtney, 38, with his late ex-wife Alice Bell, and Leila, 26, and Nicholas, 22, with wife of 30 years Deborah Roberts—also noted that a big motivation is being able to lift Courney’s daughter—and his granddaughter—Sky, 21 months.
