A Touching Return: Omar Rudberg’s ‘Dying’ Makes MAJOR Impact

    -

Facts are facts, Omar Rudberg has always been a pop culture shapeshifter! From his early days producing classic Swedish pop bops to his breakout role in Young Royals, he’s shown audiences he can balance charisma with raw emotional gravity. Now, with his latest single ‘Dying’, the Swedish-Venezuelan star is proving that music remains his most powerful outlet.

    A CINEMATIC LEAP FORWARD

Produced by Tommy English (known for his work with Kacey Musgraves, the Jonas Brothers and Børns) and co-written with alt-pop innovator Isaac Dunbar‘Dying’ swells with cinematic drama.

Opening to the haunting sound of a surge of cascading piano chords, before unfurling into a sweeping, synth-laced ballad that feels both intimate and anthemic, the super emotive track radiates with bursts of gothic grandeur and echoes of Queen’s theatricality, yet at its heart, it’s Omar’s voice that carries the song, alternating between fragile honesty and soaring conviction.

    AN HONEST CRY FOR CONNECTION

Lyrically, ‘Dying’ grapples with the suffocating weight of heartbreak, the feeling of losing yourself piece by piece. But what might have been a bleak meditation transforms into something empowering through Omar’s delivery. His vocals — smooth yet aching with urgency — mirror the push and pull of pain and resilience.

“For me, this song is about letting go and just singing straight from the heart,” Omar explains. “It’s simple but at the same time massive — like when you can’t hold back everything you’re feeling anymore. It carries both pride and vulnerability, and that’s what makes it so real. The first time I heard it, I knew I had to release it because it reflects so much of what I’ve personally been through.”

The singles accompanying video, directed by Damon Baker (Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Zendaya, mgk) helps amplify this sentiment and rawness. A moody, visually arresting short film in its own right, it captures Omar in stark, vulnerable moments, almost suspended between falling and rising.

Within hours of release, ‘Dying’ landed at #1 on the Swedish iTunes chart, solidifying its place as one of Omar’s strongest solo offerings to date. Fans online have called it his “most powerful ballad yet”, celebrating its emotional punch and cinematic scope.

After a summer of highly praised festival performances, Omar won’t be sitting still, as it’s been confirmed at this autumn, he will join Zara Larsson on her European tour, bringing his own unique brand of perfectly produced pop to stages across the continent.
