    Stock Market Updates

Stock Market Updates Today: Indian equity markets closed on a strong note on April 15, buoyed by positive global cues and broad-based buying across sectors. The benchmark Nifty 50 surged past the 23,300 mark, ending well above that level, while the BSE Sensex jumped over 1,650 points. The rally marked a powerful start to the trading week, especially as Indian markets were shut on Monday for a holiday.

The broader markets outperformed, with both the BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices rising by nearly 3% each, reflecting strong investor participation beyond the frontline indices. All sectoral indices closed in the green, underlining the widespread optimism. The BSE Realty index was the top gainer, rising over 5 percent, helped by a sharp upmove in stocks like Macrotech Developers following the resolution of the Lodha brand dispute.

On the Nifty, major gainers included IndusInd Bank, Shriram Finance, L&T, Tata Motors, and Axis Bank. Tata Motors saw increased buying interest after comments from former US President Donald Trump around auto tariff relief, which lifted sentiment in the auto space. On the downside, FMCG majors Hindustan Unilever (HUL) and ITC were among the few laggards, slightly underperforming in an otherwise bullish session.

    Global Cues

Overnight on Wall Street, major US indices ended with solid gains. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.78% to finish at 40,524.79, the Nasdaq Composite advanced 0.64% to 16,831.48, and the S&P 500 rose 0.79% to close at 5,405.97. However, futures trading in the US indicated a slightly cautious outlook ahead, with Dow Jones futures down 0.2%, and S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 futures lower by 0.2% and 0.3%, respectively.

Asian markets opened in the green on Tuesday, taking cues from Wall Street’s overnight strength. Japan’s Nikkei 225 was up 1.18%, South Korea’s Kospi gained 0.51%, and Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 advanced 0.38%, reflecting broad optimism across the Asia-Pacific region.
