The decision follows the US President Donald Trump administration’s plan to raise H-1B visa fees, increasing it to $100,000, a move aimed at shielding American workers from foreign wage competition. Nearly three-fourths of H-1B beneficiaries were from India the previous year. The tech company provides engineering and technology services to automobile, aerospace, comprising more than 12,000 employees globally. The US North America accounted for roughly 20% of its Rs 51.68 billion ($587.97 million) revenue in 2024-2025, though the company did not disclose country-specific figures.Despite pressure on Indian engineering service providers from US automotive clients scaling back due to tariffs, Harris remains optimistic about growth prospects.“That market continues to be a very vibrant and important market,” he said. “We do see a pickup in the United States in the next 6 to 9 months now that our customers have come to terms with … the new tariff regime.”In addition to hiring plans, Tata Technologies last month revealed its intent to acquire German peer ES-Tec Group for 75 million euros ($87.47 million), reported Reuters. Harris added that the company will pursue more targeted acquisitions in the coming years.
