In a major step toward greener air travel, the Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO) has brought together SITA and Amadeus — two of aviation’s leading technology providers — to explore how accurate data and smart technology can bring greater transparency and trust to the industry’s sustainability efforts.
This partnership focuses on empowering airlines and travellers to make more informed choices based on reliable environmental data. It combines SITA’s Eco Mission, which uses real aircraft performance and operational data to calculate precise fuel burn and emissions, with Amadeus’ Travel Impact Suite, a platform that aggregates carbon emission data from multiple trusted sources and global standards.
By working together, the two companies aim to provide airlines, travel agencies, and passengers with clear and consistent information about the environmental impact of each flight. This approach not only promotes transparency but also helps travellers make conscious choices — whether by selecting lower-emission flights or supporting carbon offset programs.
Abdul Wahab Teffaha, Secretary General of AACO, emphasised the importance of this collaboration, saying, “We are proud that Amadeus and SITA have joined forces to deliver solutions that help the aviation industry and its customers optimize operational costs while engaging passengers on sustainability through accurate, data-driven transparency.”
SITA for Aircraft CEO Yann Cabaret added, “Trust between passengers and airlines begins with transparency. This partnership shows how verified information can build confidence in sustainability reporting and encourage real progress across the sector.”
Maher Koubaa, Executive Vice President at Amadeus, said, “By integrating verified operational insights into our Travel Impact Suite, we’re giving the industry access to reliable and transparent sustainability data. This helps everyone—airlines, corporations, and travelers—make informed, responsible choices.”
