At the AI Impact Summit India 2026, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), described Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the “guide and philosopher leader of this summit,” highlighting the government’s role in shaping India’s artificial intelligence journey. Ambani emphasised that AI is far more than just another technology. “For the first time, humans are creating human-like systems that can learn, speak, analyse, move and produce autonomously. AI is the mantra that powers every machine and system to work faster, better and smarter,” he said.
Reflecting on the significance of the summit, he said, “This global summit is a defining moment for India’s technology sector, a moment when India pledges to make AI a key force in realising its dreams.”
He predicted that “India will emerge as one of the greatest AI powers in the world in the 21st century.”
Reliance Commits Rs 10 Lakh Crore to AI, Betting on India’s Technological Prowess
In a landmark announcement at the AI Impact Summit India 2026, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), said that Jio, in partnership with RIL, will invest Rs 10 lakh crore over the next seven years to accelerate India’s AI capabilities.
Speaking at the summit, Ambani emphasised that the investment is not speculative. “It is not purchasing valuation. This is patient, disciplined, nation-building capital, designed to create durable economic value,” he said. Highlighting the country’s long-term vision, he added, “India cannot afford to rent intelligence. Therefore, we will reduce the cost of intelligence as dramatically as we did the cost of data.”
Ambani noted that the biggest constraint in AI today is not talent or imagination, but the scarcity and high cost of computing power. “For the first time, humans are creating human-like systems that can learn, speak, analyse, move, and produce autonomously,” he said, underscoring AI’s transformative potential.
Drawing an analogy from Indian mythology, Ambani compared AI to the Akshaya Patra, the legendary vessel from the Mahabharata that provided endless nourishment. “I see AI as a modern-day Akshaya Patra, capable of providing limitless value and opportunities to all,” he said. The Akshaya Patra, gifted by Lord Surya to Yudhishthira, ensured the Pandavas and their guests were never hungry during their forest exile — a symbol of abundance and sustainability that Ambani believes AI can bring to India.
On Jio’s Big Plans
Highlighting Jio’s role in this transformation, Ambani said, “Jio connected India to the internet era. Jio will now connect India with the intelligence era. We will deliver intelligence to every citizen, every sector of the economy, and every facet of social development and government service.” He emphasised that AI would create new high-skill jobs rather than displace employment.
Ambani also detailed how Jio has begun deploying AI applications in education through initiatives such as Jio Shikshak and adaptive AI teaching assistants. “This AI-enabled India has received a massive response. What this shows is that AI is now becoming a people’s movement worldwide. The success of this movement hinges critically on global cooperation,” he added.
