Authorities in Pakistan’s federal capital have increased vehicle transfer fees, with immediate effect, and introduced transfer charges on electric vehicles (EVs) for the first time, Expres News reported.

According to a government notification, the fee for transferring ownership of cars up to 1,000cc has been raised from PKR 1,200 to PKR 2,750. For vehicles between 1,000cc and 1,800cc, the fee has been increased from PKR 2,000 to PKR 5,500. For cars above 1,800cc, the fee has jumped from PKR 3,000 to PKR 11,000.

The capital administration also announced that EVs will now be subject to transfer fees based on battery capacity. For EVs up to 50 kilowatts, the transfer fee is set at PKR 2,500. For those between 50kW and 100kW, the fee is PKR 5,500, while EVs over 100kW will incur a fee of PKR 10,000.

Motorbike transfer fees have also been revised. For bikes up to 200cc, the fee has been increased from PKR 150 to PKR 550. Bikes between 200cc and 400cc will now incur a PKR 1,000 fee, while those above 400cc will be subject to a PKR 1,500 charge.

All fees will be deposited into accounts designated by the Ministry of Finance, the notification said.
