Bank Holidays Today: Are Banks Open Or Closed On Eid?
Bank Holiday On March 31st, 2025: March 31 marks the end of the financial year, making it a busy day for banking professionals who finalize transactions and financial reporting. Banks generally remain open on this day. However, with Eid-ul-Fitr, a national holiday, also falling on this date, there is confusion about whether banks are closed.
Are Banks Open Or Closed On March 31?
Despite Eid-ul-Fitr falling on March 31, banks will remain operational. According to RBI’s holiday list, banks are supposed to be closed on March 31 in most states except Himachal Pradesh and Mizoram due to Eid-ul-Fitr.
Therefore, all banking services will remain operational on that day.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has mandated banks to remain operational on March 31, the last working day of the financial year 2024-25, to avoid any discrepancies in financial reporting. This ensures all financial transactions for the fiscal year 2024-25 are completed before the new financial year begins on April 1.
