DALLAS – One Dallas police officer is dead and two officers are wounded after a shooting in Oak Cliff late Thursday night, sources say.

Sources tell CBS News Texas the three officers were shot in the 900 block of E Ledbetter Drive in Dallas, and then a chase ensued.

CBS News Texas later learned from Lewisville Police that Dallas police officers led the chase on northbound IH-35.

It ended just north of Business 121, where shots were fired and the suspect was shot and killed, Lewisville police say.

The highway is expected to be closed for an extended time. Seek alternate routes to avoid the area.

    No Lewisville officers were involved.

The Dallas Police Department confirmed on X that they were investigating an officer-involved shooting.

CBS News Texas crews on scene at Baylor University Medical Center and Methodist Dallas Medical Center in Dallas say there is a heavy police presence.

A CBS News Texas photojournalist at Methodist Dallas Medical Center said officers were lining up at the entrance in a salute.
