Emerging British singer-songwriter and pianist Hutch has released his debut EP, ‘On The Edge Of The Earth’, via Deep End Recordings, marking the arrival of a striking new voice in the UK’s contemporary soul landscape. Alongside the project, the 24-year-old shares its focus track, ‘Sorry’ – a confessional and emotionally raw single that encapsulates the themes running throughout the record.
The six-track EP arrives amid growing momentum for Hutch, who was recently named one of BBC Introducing… Ones To Watch in 2026, and and has earned praise from artists including Mahalia, Maverick Sabre, Kojey Radical, Ren and Che Lingo.
Built around themes of healing, self-reflection and personal growth, ‘On The Edge Of The Earth’ draws from Hutch’s own experiences navigating a turbulent adolescence. Across the project, he explores the tension between chaos and calm, documenting the process of finding clarity after years of emotional noise.
‘Sorry’ sits at the heart of the EP’s narrative. Driven by lush production and soulful vocals, the track sees Hutch confronting uncomfortable truths with an honesty that has quickly become a defining feature of his songwriting. It’s a vulnerable performance that balances emotional weight with melodic restraint.
That sense of duality shapes much of Hutch’s creative identity. His music moves between introspection and release, city life and nature, grief and gratitude. While contemporary influences such as Anderson .Paak, Little Simz, Loyle Carner and RAYE can be heard throughout the project, Hutch has also pointed to jazz legend Oscar Peterson as a foundational inspiration.
‘On The Edge Of The Earth’ brings together the artist’s previously released singles, including ‘Never Like The First Time’, a soulful meditation on resilience, the reflective follow-up ‘Coasting’, and last month’s rhythm-driven ‘Hard Healing’. Together, the tracks chart a journey of self-discovery, documenting Hutch’s efforts to reconcile his past while imagining a more grounded future.
With his debut EP now released, Hutch offers a compelling introduction to an artist whose willingness to embrace vulnerability and genre-fluid songwriting has already begun to attract attention across the UK music scene.
