Following the smashing box office of Michael, a cheeky tease was given before the end credits rolled: “His story will continue.”
Now, talks for a potential sequel are hot in the air, and Lionsgate chief Adam Fogelson has added his share to the mix.
Appearing on Matthew Belloni’s podcast The Town, he said the town has discussed making a second installment about the pop icon.
Though nothing is confirmed yet. There is also a holdup due to the packed schedules of director Antoine Fuqua and producer Graham King.
But if round two ever gets a green signal, expect Jaafar Jackson, who portrayed Michael Jackson, to be ready on the call.
He himself described him as already on board before the biopic release.
“I’ve definitely been thinking about some things,” he told ScreenRant. “I absolutely do have more interest in reprising the role of his real-life uncle again.”
Aside from this, a clear divide emerged among Michael’s audience and critics.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the film scored a 97% audience score; however, critics gave it a low 37%.
Michael is in theaters.
