Angelina Jolie‘s daughter Zahara Jolie paid tribute to her mum in a touching speech about mother-daughter relationships for an event held at her college, Spelman College.
Taking to the stage with the 50-year-old actress, Zahara, 21, paid tribute to the most “selfless, loving and understanding woman” whom she proudly “gets to call mum”.
As per a video of the event posted to Facebook, Zahara admitted: ”When I was asked today to speak on the value of mother-daughter relationships, it felt challenging to find the words.

“Not challenging because I don’t value it, but because my mom and I have a unique, almost kindred relationship that could be hard to put into words.”
The student explained that she was adopted by Jolie from Ethiopia at six-months-old in July 2005, and was raised alongside her five siblings “on the value of helping others, being kind and always striving for growth as people.”
“These values may sound simple, but in a world where kindness is overlooked and helping others comes at a cost, I am grateful to have had a role model to show me what it looks like to be a decent human being,” she said of her actress mother.

She ended her speech on a quote: “I’m a strong woman because a strong woman raised me,” before turning to look at her mother before she said, “Thank you, Mum.”
The event was held at a luncheon hosted by the Pearls of Purpose Foundation and the Nu Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha at her Atlanta-based college.
The Maleficent star also spoke at the event, thanking the Pearls of Purpose Foundation and Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority for honouring her and her daughter.
“Thank you for supporting brilliant young minds and for hosting this mother-daughter luncheon and for taking the time to celebrate this very special bond and one of life’s most beautiful relationships,” the Mr and Mrs Smith actress said, per a clip shared to X.
“So from the bottom of my heart, thank you for allowing us this moment to share together.”
Jolie has six children: Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, Shiloh, 19, and 17-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox, with ex-husband Brad Pitt.
Jolie adopted Maddox from an orphanage in Cambodia in 2002 and Zahara from Ethiopia in 2005, after which Pitt also adopted them.

Amid rumours of a strained relationship with their father, in recent years, many of the children have dropped the surname “Pitt” from their names.
