If Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love doesn’t fall to the Washington Commanders at No. 7 in the 2026 NFL Draft, who then is the pick?
Jeremy Greene of the Sportsocracy podcast, the “NFL Draft Nerd,” was a guest on Grant & Danny 106.7 The Fan on Friday. One of the things Greene did was answer that very question. He did so with the two players he thought best for Washington, if the Notre Dame running back does not fall to them at No. 7.

Danny Rouhier asked Greene specifically about LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane. “Love him,” replied Greene without hesitation. “Delane is faster than you think (he ran a 4.36 at the Combine). He runs that 40 and I went, ‘Yep, top five’. Mansoor Delane should go in the top five.”
“He can play in any scheme. The Virginia Tech tape and the LSU tape, it is comical how different those two schemes were, and he was fantastic in both. That’s what I am looking for out of a corner. In my lifetime there have been maybe five of those. I just think people get lost in, ‘Well, the chunk plays/ highlight plays weren’t there. Doesn’t matter. He didn’t get burned ever.”
“That’s a lock-down corner on one side. To me, that is not a consolation prize for Washington. If that’s the one that lands there for you, I’ll run that card up for you like Chariots of Fire playing in the background. There you go! You have that. I’m happy, I’m good.”

The other player if Love doesn’t fall to Washington? Ohio State safety Caleb Downs. “If it’s not Jeremiyah Love, I’m looking at Caleb Downs. That’s the best player in the class. I love Caleb Downs. I think he is a fantastic player. I know he’s got to deal with his knee. I’m not sure I care. I think that’s a player you can build a defense around.”
